5 FALSE MYTHS ABOUT ORGANIC PRODUCTS AND NATURAL COSMETICS
For your beauty and especially for your health, do not be fooled by these lies on natural cosmetics!Italian cosmetics, following the trend spread all over the world, have been contaminated by the interest in organic products. This is due to the spread of the awareness that many of the ingredients used in traditional cosmetics may have negative effects on the health and beauty of those who use them. Even in this field, unfortunately, some false myths and false news have spread on the net.
Today we show you the most frequent!
1. NATURAL COSMETICS = DIY
Producing natural cosmetics requires lots of knowledge, great research and numerous tests. For this reason, companies that produce natural cosmetics need advanced laboratories and technologies, certainly not replicable in their own home kitchen!
So, in order to avoid spreading on your skin cosmetics that may be unsafe, do not make DIY cosmetics and rely on companies that create professional and controlled products, but not less natural.
2. NATURAL COSMETICS ARE LESS EFFICIENT
FALSE!All cosmetics must comply with European regulations and they must be "safe, effective and do what they promise".Keep in mind, however, that because they give longer lasting results they require a longer period of time to show visible results.
Traditional cosmetics, on the contrary, have a high concentrations of certain ingredients, such as silicon, that give immediate but short-term results, as they only operate superficially and their effects generally disappear within a month of cessation of their use.
With natural cosmetics, instead, you need to have a bit more patience, but you will get a beautiful and young skin in the long run.
3. READING COSMETIC INCI IS SUFFICIENT TO STABILISH NATURALITY
FALSE!Some ingredients may be harmful or create allergic reactions, in other cases the same active ingredient can be worked and have very different origins (eg animal or vegetable).
For this reason the examination of the list of ingredients listed on the label is not always enough to establish the naturalness of the product but it is necessary to rely on the cosmetic certification.
Natrue, for organic cosmetics and Denominations of Origin (IGP, DOC, DOCG, etc.) for individual active ingredients, are the benchmarks for a conscious choice.
4. NATURAL COSMETICS LEAVE SKIN GREASY
FALSE!Contrary to what you might think, natural cosmetics tend to be absorbed more quickly by the skin than traditional cosmetics. This is the result of their composition.
Moreover, natural cosmetics, especially if based on oils and vegetable butters, contain lipids and fatty acids very similar to those of the skin and are therefore absorbed very easily and quickly.
5. CHOOSING COSMETICS NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS IS FUNDAMENTAL
In fact, all cosmetic companies, starting from 2009, can not test their ingredients on animals.
Starting from March 11th, 2013, these ingredients can not be tested even outside of the European Union.
So in Europe it is not possible to sell cosmetics containing ingredients, developed for cosmetics, tested on animals anywhere in the world.
